FACTORS INFLUENCING HUMAN VISION

1/ age - some of the common changes in vision for older adults:
/a/ some loss of ability to see very close objects – probably not relevant except for adjusting the sighting device
/b/ needing more time to adjust to changes in the level of light
/c/ some challenges in distinguishing colors – like blue from black
/d/ decreased depth perception
/e/ limited peripheral vision
see https://www.nia.nhs/gov

In addition, diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking and eye diseases such as macular degeneration can impact vision.

/2/ gender - typical vision differences:
/a/ men often see finer details
/b/ men often see rapidly moving objects better
/c/ women usually distinguish middle spectrum (blues and greens) colors better

Men have 25% higher levels of testosterone receptors in their visual cortexes.
