Ruger 10/22 semi-automatic rifle - the secondary long gun.

Objectives

/1/ No work that requires a gunsmith as I lack that skill (and the tools) and do not know anyone local that I can trust

/2/ Able to quickly swap out gear as well as batteries

/3/ Not too heavy either overall or locally (changes to the balance of the weapon)

/4/ The Savage rifle should be operable 24 hours per day

/5/ Currently – the Ruger does not need infrared and functions as a backup

/6/ Pistol and shotgun for close-range defense only

/7/ not too bulky for the current carry bags and transport cases

/8/ not too expensive as the objectives and technology may change

/9/ reliable and should not require a spotter

Note that there are no available rails (Mlok, Weaver or Picatinny) on this gun). The rail beneath the scope is short, not really accessible and would complicate ejection.
