Weapons - Optics 光学  (continued)
law enforcement personnel sometimes have a special requirement - they might be wearing ballistic face shields attached to hard helmets. This pairing is heavy. One way to protect against attacks by lasers (no, we are not kidding) is to affix a laser safety strip across the upper part of the face shield. We are not in love with the idea, but have no better alternative. The advantages of the protective strip shown below are that it is inexpensive, light (essentially weightless) and, with the chin raised slightly, as shown in the leftmost image, permits normal color sensation. Lowering the chin slightly, as shown in the rightmost image, should block any incoming laser light. The disadvantage is the the wearer has to be aware of the incoming laser and adjust his or her posture. It needs to be mentioned that many of the safety devices make firing a rifle, especially one with a scope, somewhat challenging.
