| Usually, the school would provide lau gar (10 foot) staffs, spears, eyebrow height staffs, forks and Kwan daos so the | ||
| students do not need to struggle to transport the long weapons. That would leave batons, swords and sabers that a student | ||
| might buy as personal weapons. Well, swords and sabers, but probably not batons. There are also tai chi tools: a ruler, a | ||
| bang, and a bar that might be personalized. Probably not wing chun rings or a ball. Possibly bao ding balls because they | ||
| come in so many versions. Students have engraved their initials (usually twice) on obscure places on swords and sabers. | ||
| There's a wide variety of woods and shapes and lengths used for the tools, but usually each student manages to prefer | ||
| something unique so we take pictures. Sometimes colored tape is used if absolutely needed. We are not wild about glue. | ||
| We don't give out medals or badges or pins. When it comes to guests and exemplars, maybe we should. | ||
