Weapons - oxhorn crutches 牛角拐杖 |
|
As nearly as I can determine, the Ox-Horn Crutch (Niujiao Guai)
is a traditional weapon used mostly in northern China and is
part of the Guai (Crutch) family of weapons. |
|
The primary difference between the two pairs was the
configuration of the handle (top right corner in the upper
picture; lower right corner in the lower picture). Strikes
involving swinging the long arm horizontally were equally
ineffective with both handles. Perhaps if the blades were steel
or copper and had sharpened edges the handle might matter, but
we found no (zero) difference on our punch-o-meter when slamming
the blade downward. We remain very unimpressed with the
traditional one inch diameter tonfa. |
