Mauritania Then and Now

Originally done about 20 years ago, the red route was to parallel the coast and transit Western Sahara from Morocco.
The purple route bypassed Morocco and Western Sahara.
The green route was an optional east-west connection.
One intention was to connect Senegal and nations to the south to Europe either by maglev or by an intermodal port. Besides freight, either the red or purple maglev was intended to transport pilgrims to Mecca.
