Silk Reeling
Exercises |
The fifth of the
five beginning silk reeling exercises is done with a both hands
and arms to the right. |
As in the first
exercise start in the standard Wuji standing posture. Put your
left hand with the |
elbow bent,
fingers parallel to the ground and facing forward (thumb is
separated) on the left hip. |
Shift most of
your weight to the left leg and step about one foot to the right
with your right foot. |
Softly bend the
right wrist about 90 degrees inward to the fingers are parallel
to the shoulder line . |
Extend your right
hand outward so it is at shoulder level and so the elbow is
nearly straight. Now |
rotate your left
hand forward 180 degrees so it is parallel to the ground, palm
up and just ahead |
the hip with the
left elbow bent. Move the left hand up at about 45 degrees
crossing the centerline |
ending near the
right ribs and below the right hand - as if you were holding a
ball between the |
hands. Breathe
out slowly as you re-balance your weight evenly. |
You want to move
both hands slowly
straight down to waist level inhaling as you go. Now both the |
wrists and forearms rotate 90 degrees so the
right palm
faces inward and the left palm faces down |
and in. Move the hands
along the waist past the centerline to the left hip. Now lift
the hands up |
(no
change to palms; elbow
relaxed) toward the left shoulder. Rotate the wrists and forearms
180 |
degrees so
the right palm faces out and the left palm faces up and in.
Now move the hands to the |
right parallel to
the shoulder line exhaling gently as you go. When you reach the
furthest right you |
are
comfortable with tuck the right elbow gently toward the body and rotate
the hands. That's one |
cycle. Here's a link to
