| As the left palm
ascends its path can be said to describe a half-circle like the
black shape in the |
| lower right area
of the patch above. At the same time the right fist is
descending in a half-circle |
| like the
white shape in the upper left area of the patch above. For
maximum theatric effect the |
| left palm should
be slightly cupped as in the Iron Palm practice (see the video
below) and the |
| right fist should
be closed and inverted (palm up). The right hand's knuckles
follow a line from the |
| base of the left
hand's pointer finger to the bottom inside corner. |
| For the more
mystically inclined, this movement has been described as
summoning the entities of the |
| ten directions to
bear witness that some serious tai chi chuan is about to go
down. |
