Archery
was one of the Six Noble Arts of the Zhou dynasty (1146–256 BCE)
and has the profound advantage of having an easily
understood and visible target. However, assessing archery
technique mechanically has some challenges. It is possible that strategic placement of LEDs on the bow might help, but that leaves both the arrow and the details of the archer's hands to be analyzed. For the eight canonical weapons (ten if one chooses to count double sword and double saber) six LEDs might suffice - pairs at each end and in the middle. That does not resolve whether one actually struck the intended target. More work needed. Although a fair percentage of students wear something like blues blocking glasses lasers in class or even in solo practice would be just too dangerous to be recommended even if the student could be trusted to wear (and keep on) safety glasses (examples below). Laser = light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation with the operative word being amplification. A teacher and any spectators might be able to be similarly protected but plants and cameras would still be exposed. NOTE: I do NOT teach pistols, revolvers, shortguns or rifles in particular or guns in general. |
Noted in passing that the children's frame and the goggles (top rows) in some circumstances can be fairly hot to wear and may fog up. For many, if not all, of the designs one will likely want to add a glasses strap of some sort. |
