When it comes
to socks we currently do not see smart socks as being on |
our critical path as students are not usually running or
even walking, so |
technical
details about foot alignment, stride length and so on are
not |
important
measures for us yet. We are not persuaded (so far) that a
count |
of strides
during class is very meaningful. That said, we would be
willing |
to move
biosensors from the wrist (smart watch) to the ankle if the |
measurements
are more accurate or the students prefer it. However, even |
sensor-free socks could be a helpful accessory: it is
important for students |
to have dry, cool and cushioned feet both inside class and
outside class. |
As nearly as
we can determine there are two styles - what we call anklets |
versus full
socks. We are curious if the latter provide any extra help
for |
knees, ankles
(sprains) or leg muscles. Likewise, we are curious about |
whether socks
with individual toes (below right) offer any advantage |
relative to socks
with just one large toe. Whether diabetes or
congestive |
heart disease are present is a consideration. |
