The growth in electrical
consumption and production
(and in Singapore's case, imports
of oil and natural gas) at a rate
exceeding population growth is
typical, albeit challenging.
Given its limited land area, the
prospects for hydroelectric
power generation in Singapore
are slim. It is not clear is a joint
venture with Papua New
Guinea, Malaysia or Indonesia is
attractive. Besides solar energy,
we would be inclined to consider
tidal and wind energy sources,
although these two would be
minor contributions to the
overall supply.
