The 300-odd BILLION US
Dollars reflects not only
catastrophic damage to the
city-state of Singapore as well as
coastal portions of Indonesia,
Papua New Guinea and
Malaysia, but also no ships
travelling through the Malacca
Straits for at least six months.
Besides being the planet's
busiest waterway (easily two
hundred ships per day), one
fourth of all the world's oil
transported moves through the
Malacca Straits.
