L3 refers to level three cache, RAM is main memory (with its associated speed) and secondary refers to auxiliary storage such as a hard disk drive or a solid state drive. ORIBI writes a record to disk with the results of each calculation, so if 10,000,000 calculations are done there will be ten billion writes to the auxiliary storage.
