My estimates for the Eastern Honshu events (assuming nothing more really
bad happens) are 22,000 dead and almost twice that many injured plus
100 BILLION dollars in damage. If Japan loses all ten reactors at Fukushima
(plus four more nearby) it won't make that much difference. The keys are
going to be water and shelter. Restoring electrical power will take months. I
am not clear where (or how) one dumps cubic miles of debris.
