"This is actually a plot of stock price (purple) against trading volume (green) for the
firm that financed the American cotton industry and was a major player in funding
the build-out of the American railroad network. Lehman Brothers is gone now, but the
geometry remains. If the purple is any achievement score and the green is
absenteeism - whether due to dropping out or school closures - once the curves  cross
that is the end for the Kansas City Missouri School District.

There is a very basic premise in a culture like ours - hundreds of adults invest time in
a child not even related to them for twenty years in hopes that child will grow up to
make the same investment to make little persons into big people for forty years."
