Black takes time at move 26 to clear away some protection for the White King (with check)
and then temporarily stops the White mating attack by e5, which disconnects the deadly
Queen and Bishop. Instead of recapturing at e5 with his d Pawn, Black's 28th move unmasks
the Queen and Rook battery on the c file. Three pieces are bearing down on the pawn at c2.
White can defend with the Rook now at d1 or continue his attack. One possibility is for White
to take the pawn at d6. This will interfere with any checks by the bishop at f8 if the King goes
to a3. This allows a deadly looking check at c2 and certainly risks the Rook.
