Some unpleasant nightmares
for a Israeli admiral: a LNG ship
or oil tanker explodes or is
blown up; a nuclear weapon
being shipped across the
Mediterranean or Red Sea
accidentally detonates - or
terrorists intentionally trigger a
such a bomb. None of these
remotely compare to the energy
released by an earthquake.
Shown at left is a recent photo
of the Qiantang river tidal bore.
Even with state of the art buoys
the warning time for a
Mediterranean  event would be
less than 60 minutes. For Eilat
tsunami waves would likely
arrive minutes after the
warning. If Gulf of Aqaba and
the Suez Canal act like tidal
bores civilian and military ships
have no chance.
