For Investors - instead of a remodel inside an existing shell |
We have received several quotes on a 40' x 50 ' x 10' high steel
structure with a gable roof and usually three doors (two doors for pedestrians and one roll-up). We are not so sure a rollup is useful at this stage. The quotes are all about $19,000 plus concrete. The foundation is specified as a 4" slab with 12" x 12" footings. We give two calculations: one for 4" and one for 6". The footings are (40 + 50) x 2 = 180 cubic feet or 7 cubic yards of concrete. The slab is 40 x 50 = 2000 / 9 = 225 square yards. 4" = 1/9 of a yard so 25 cubic yards, while 6" = 1/6 of a yard so 38 cubic yards. Either 32 or 45 cubic yards. Adding gravel, rebar and forms probably something like $6000 total so if steel is acceptable something on the order of $25,000 to $30,000 plus land. We'll see what a similar wood structure might cost. |
