A quick glance at the map might prepare readers for our usual dire predictions of a Baltic
Sea tsunami tearing into the Gulf of Riga and blasting Riga, Latvia's capital and largest city,
while also roaring through the Gulf of Finland and crashing into Tallinn. Like Riga, Tallinn
is Estonia's capital city, financial hub and largest port, as well as home to one third of the
population. While we certainly agree this sort of catastrophe would be a tragedy, anything
depending on a major seismic event in the region looks very unlikely at this time.
