(*) The population of Conakry may be
as high as 2,000,000. Currently, the
city has been unable to scale up water
and electrical power distribution.
Conakry has at least eight times the
population of the second most
populous city in Guinea: that would
be Kankan with just over 200,000 - it
is the capital of the Kankan Region of
eastern Guinea and populated largely
by members of the Mandinkan group.
It is estimated less than 70% of
Guineans have persistent access to
clean water and less than 20% have
access to improved sanitation
facilities. Coupled with 2 million
people chronically under-nourished
this makes everything easy for
microbes. It is estimated that primary
speakers are Pular (40%);
Malinkakan (30%), Soussou (20%)
with 28 other languages plus French.
We are certain that Guinea cannot
afford a civil war. Any prolonged
disturbances  based on ethnic
divisions will results in viruses and
bacteria winning.  It is that simple.
Guinea needs teachers and doctors
and engineers. We'd suggest using
the leadership skills of ALL the
Presidential candidates.
