In looking at recent (1979 - present) measures of sulfates from TOMS red bars are arc volcanoes and blue bars are non-arc.
The vertical scale is logarithmic. Sigurdsson et alia in 2000 estimated the output of El Chichon, Pinatubo and Tambora.
