We've asked around - no one seems to know if the 1924 or 1998 events caused tsunamis.
We have been told that the Balleny hotspot has produced the Balleny Islands extending from 66°15' to 67°35'S and 162° 30' to 165°00'E. The islands are heavily glaciated and are of volcanic origin - the major
islands of Young, Buckle and
Sturge are all stratovolcanos.
Nevertheless, the dogma is only
tremors of moderate strength:
mostly near the Pacific–Antarctic Ridge, Macquarie Triple Junction and Pacific Rim.
