The Dahlak Archipelago
has been famous for its
pearls since Roman
times, if not before.
There are two major
islands and more than
120 minor ones. The
largest island is Dahlak
Kebir - it has about 2500
inhabitants. The area
would be a prime reserve
for eco-tourism based on
sea turtle preservation.
Despite them being
common in the area, we
will NEVER name an
application after a sea
cucumber or any
echinoderm. We believe
in many, but not all,
cases the Dahlak
Archipelago breaks up
tsunamis and shelters
Massawa.
