Southeastern African seismicity. Somewhat ironically, the more distant earthquakes actually present a far greater danger to Gabon than most local inland events would. A major marine event in the southern Atlantic would have a good chance of not only damaging most, if not all, West African ports, but also Brazilian ports. The latter would have been the best source of repair materials and rescue personnel.
