Weapons - Sai   釵 Other names:  Gen (Chinese), Iron rulers, chabang or tjabang (Indonesia), trisula (India), tekpi (Malaysia)

Versions taught: Hung Gar (Grandmaster Wing Lam); Fukien White Crane (Su Ying Han); Mei Shan (Yan Xi Zheng).  We currently do NOT teach karate katas for sai. Mounting a sai on a long handle (like a staff) produces a weapon known in Europe as a ranseur. Among the variations are the partisan and the spetum. Recommendations: a good early weapon. Cost: varies from $16 to $50 per pair.
