12/13/2016 Single Whip posture with weapons
While I would feel somewhat more
comfortable with the offensive possibilities of daggers, they are
really not made to repulse blows, let alone an overhead strike. Could
a slash find targets like the enemy knee or thigh. Could the
counterattack get close enough to the enemy groin or lower abdomen?
The butterfly knives (technically, sabers) offer somewhat better
defense, but there is still a good chance the dull back of your blade
gets driven into your head by the descending enemy weapon. Likewise,
it is going to take considerable dexterity to get the lower butterfly
knife (right hand) to slash the enemy knee or thigh: the blade's
cutting edge starts off facing away from the enemy. At least there is
a fair chance of slashing the enemy's lower strike limb or weapon.
