Chen Family style Tai Chi Chuan - beginners
Sitting meditation - WuJi style as taught by the esteemed Cai Songfang
For most people the most important thing needed for sitting is a chair. It is best if the chair
is stable, and the seat does not press into the backs of your legs. In class we are only sitting
for a few minutes, but if you are doing serious seated meditation we suggest a thin cushion.
In class we are using sitting to briefly shut off the chatter of the outside world and get ready
to do work. Sitting also serves as a prelude to the standing meditation that follows it. A third
use employed by students who did NOT practice at home last night or earlier in the day (ahem)
is to review yesterday's lessons.
We will start with the head - the t-square is just for purposes of illustration.
